To inspire and foster the future of the helicopter industry through people and technology.
AHIFF 2024 SCOLARSHIP
Congratulations to all AHIFF scholarship winners
Six young recipients from around Australia have won scholarships to further their engineering study.
AHIA president and Board Member Ray Cronin announced the winners as part of the RotorTech 2024 Industry Dinner.
The six winners are first year engineering apprentices who will receive a $3000 scholarship to help the continuation of their studies.
The AHIFF was created three years ago when prominent helicopter industry leader John Cameron approached the AHIA to donate $500,000 to help further the industry.
"It was a magnificant contribution to the industry so we took those funds and started the not-for-profit Australian Helicopter Industry Future Fund," said Ray.
"The purpose of the foundation is to encourage the entrants we need into the industry, engineers, pilots, safety officers, whatever the needs of the industry demands.
"Tonight, these scholarships will tackle sustainability in the industry and ensure trainees complete their apprenticeships."

Welcome to the Australian Helicopter Industry Future Foundation (AHIFF).
The Foundation was established following an initial donation by the founding benefactor John Cameron of Cameron Aviation, John’s vision was to put back into an industry that has been his life for most of his working career and to encourage others to do the same to support and foster new entrants to the helicopter industry.
John has a passion for helicopter maintenance support and particularly people acquiring practical skills that the industry needs to keep the rotors turning to maintain an exciting and vibrant aviation sector.
To reach this goal AHIFF has been running workshops nationally to introduce young people to the work of engineers and the pathways to the necessary qualifications. The feedback has been very positive, with several of the attendees being offered apprenticeships. This program will be ongoing and offered in all States.
AHIFF has also awarded scholarships to outstanding second and third apprentices to assist them with their studies and related materials, further to encourage retention within the industry sector.
AHIFF is a non for profit foundation that ensures funds are distributed in accordance with its constitution and operates in unison with the Australian Helicopter Industry Association (AHIA). This partnership is vital in ensuring our industry meets its future skills needs.
If you have any questions or comments, please call or send us an email.
The future of the helicopter industry is exciting and rewarding. We encourage you to seek out the options our industry can offer you and join an industry that will support you financially and develop a life time passion for your work as many of us have like John.
